Texts

MEASURE  &  GAIN
Matthew 13 Mark 4 Luke 8
    24  And he said to them,
      "Take heed  18  Take heed then
      what you hear;   how you hear;
      the measure you [give]
      will be the measure
      you get,
      and still more
    * will be given you.
 12  For <whoever> has, 25  For <he> who has,   for <he> who has,
  <to him it will be given>,   <to him it will be given>;   <to him it will be given>;
  and he will have abundance;
** but <whoever has not>, ** and <he who has not>, ** and <he who has not>,
  even what he has   even what he has   even what he thinks he has
  will be taken away   will be taken away   will be taken away
  <from him>."   <from him>."   <from him>."

* Note: Mark 4:24 -- The text follows the oldest mss. in the Egyptian recension; the majority of later Byzantine codices have "given to those who hear."

** Note: Mark 4:25 & parallels: "has not" -- Matthew & Mark use ouk with the indicative; Luke uses with the subjunctive.

>Compare: Mark 4:24 (above) with

MEASURE
Matthew 7   Mark   Luke 6
 2  For with the judgment you pronounce
  you will be judged
  and the measure you [give]    38b  For the measure you [give]
  will be the measure      will be the measure
  you get."     you get back."

Compare: Matt 13:12 // Mark 4:25 // Luke 8:18  (above) with

GAIN & LOSS
Matthew 25   Mark   Luke 19
       26  "I tell you that
29  "For to everyone who has ***     to everyone  who has ***
  <it will be given>,     <it will be given>,
  and he will have abundance;
  but     but
  he who has not, ***     from him who has not, ***
  even what he has     even what he has
  will be taken away      will be taken away."
  <from him>."

*** Note: Note: Note: "who has...who has not" -- Matt 25:29 & Luke 19:26 use a present participle construction [literally: "the having...the not having"] unlike the present indicative in Mark 4:25 & parallels.
