		38	Now as they went on their way,	1	Six days before Passover
			he entered a village;		Jesus came to Bethany,
					where Lazarus was,
					whom Jesus had raised
					from the dead.
				2	There they made him a supper;
			and a woman named Martha		Martha served,*
					and Lazarus was one of those
			received him into her house.		at table with him.
		39	And she had a sister called Mary,	3	Mary took a pound
					of costly ointment
			who sat at the Lord's feet		and anointed the feet of Jesus
			and listened to his teaching.		and wiped his feet with her hair;
					and the house was filled
					with the fragrance of the ointment.
		40	But Martha was distracted
			with much serving;*
			and she went to him and said,
			"Lord, do you not care
			that my sister has left me
			to serve alone?
			Tell her then to help me."
		41	But the Lord answered her,
			"Martha, Martha,
			you are anxious
			and troubled about many things;
		42	one thing is needful.
			Mary has chosen the good portion,
			which shall not be taken away from her.
