JESUS ENCOUNTERS a WOMAN of TYRE |
|||
Matt 15 | Mark 7 | Luke | ||
21 | And Jesus | 24 | And from there he arose
went away from there | and went away
and withdrew | ||||
to the district of Tyre and Sidon. | to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
And he entered a house, | ||||
and would not have any one know it;
to Bethsaida, | ||||
yet he could not be hid. | ||||
22 | And behold, | 25 | But immediately
a Canaanite woman | a woman,
from that region | ||||
came out | ||||
and cried, | ||||
"Have mercy on me, | ||||
O Lord, Son of David; | ||||
my daughter is severely possessed | whose little daughter was possessed
by a demon." | by an unclean spirit,
heard of him, | ||||
23 | But he did not answer her a word.
And his disciples came | ||||
and begged him, | ||||
saying, | ||||
"Send her away, | ||||
for she is crying after us."
24 | He answered, | |||
"I was sent only to the lost sheep
of the house of Israel."
25 | But she came | and came | ||
and knelt before him, | and fell down at his feet.
26 | Now the woman was a Greek,
a Syrophoenician by birth.
saying, "Lord, help me." | And she begged him
to cast the demon | ||||
out of her daughter. | ||||
26 | And he answered, | 27 | And he said to her,
"Let the children first be fed,
"It is not fair | for it is not right
to take the children's bread | to take the children's bread
and throw it to the dogs." | and throw it to the dogs."
27 | She said, | 28 | But she answered him,
"Yes, Lord; | "Yes, Lord;
yet even the dogs | yet even the dogs
under the table* | ||||
eat the crumbs | eat the children's crumbs."
that fall | ||||
from their masters' table."*
28 | Then Jesus answered her, | 29 | And he said to her,
"O woman, | ||||
great is your faith! | ||||
"For this saying | ||||
you may go your way; | ||||
Be it done for you as you desire." | the demon has left your daughter."
And | 30 | And she went home,
her daughter | and found the child
lying in bed, | ||||
was healed instantly. | and the demon gone. |
