Lucius Calpurnius Bibulus [ ? - 32 BCE]

The youngest son of Marcus Calpurnius Bibulus, Julius Caesar's long-time adversary, not only survived the civil wars that cost his father & older brothers their lives, but ironically died a trusted ally of Caesar's heir, Octavian.  Lucius Bibulus' political conversion from stalwart champion of Rome's republican tradition to ranking official in the new imperial order was hardly precipitous. After Caesar's death, the younger Bibulus supported his assassins & fought for them at Philippi (42 BCE). Following the suicides of Brutus & Cassius, however, he surrendered to Marc Antony, who entrusted him with a naval command in battles with Octavian.
