   CENTURION'S  BOY CURED
36 Matt 8 Mark  53 Luke 7
      1 After he had ended all his sayings
        in the hearing of the people
5 As he entered Capernaum,     he entered Capernaum.
  a centurion came forward to him,   2 Now a centurion
        had a slave who was dear to him,
        who was sick
        and at the point of death.
      3 When he heard of Jesus,
        he sent to him elders of the Jews,
        asking him to come*
        and heal* his slave.
      4 And when they came to Jesus,
  beseeching him     they besought him earnestly,
6 and saying, "Lord,     saying,
  my servant is lying paralyzed at home,
  in terrible distress."
        "He is worthy to have you do this for him,
      5 for he loves our nation,
        and he built us our synagogue."
7 And he said to him,
  "I will come and heal* him."
      6 And Jesus went with them.
        When he was not far from the house,
8 But the centurion      the centurion sent friends to him,
  answered him,     saying to him,
  "Lord,      "Lord, do not trouble yourself,
  I am not worthy     for I am not worthy
  to have you come under my roof;     to have you come under my roof;
      7 therefore I did not presume
        to come to you.
  but only say the word,     But say the word,
  and my servant will be healed.     and let my servant be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority,   8 For I am a man set under authority,
  with soldiers under me;     with soldiers under me:
  and I say to one, `Go,'     and I say to one, `Go,'
  and he goes,     and he goes;
  and to another, `Come,'     and to another, `Come,'
  and he comes,     and he comes;
  and to my slave, `Do this,'     and to my slave, `Do this,'
  and he does it."     and he does it."
10 When Jesus heard him,   9 When Jesus heard this
  he marveled,     he marveled at him,
  and said     and turned and said
  to those who followed him,     to the multitude that followed him,
  "Truly, I say to you,     "I tell you,
  not even in Israel have I found such faith.     not even in Israel have I found such faith."
11 I tell you,
  many will come from east and west     [see Luke 13:28-29]
  and sit at table
  with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
  in the kingdom of heaven,
12 while the sons of the kingdom
  will be thrown into the outer darkness;
  there men will weep
  and gnash their teeth."
13 And to the centurion Jesus said,
  "Go;
  be it done for you as you have believed."
  And the servant was healed
  at that very moment.
      10 And when those who had been sent
        returned to the house,
        they found the slave well.
