  JESUS  REVIVES a RULER'S  DAUGHTER

      [some] who said,   and said,
      "Your daughter is dead.   "Your daughter is dead;
      Why trouble the Teacher   do not trouble the Teacher
      any further?"   any more."
    36 But ignoring 50 But Jesus*
      what they said,   on hearing this
      Jesus* said   answered
      to the ruler   him,
      of the synagogue,    
      "Do not fear,   "Do not fear;
      only believe."   only believe,
          and she shall be well."
        51 And when he came
          to the house,
    37 And he allowed no one   he permitted no one
      to follow him   to enter with him,
      except Peter and James*   except Peter and John*
      and John*   and James,*
      the brother of James.

24 he <was saying>,   he <says> to them,   but he said,
  "Depart;        
      "Why do you make    
      a tumult and weep?   "Do not weep;
  for the girl is not dead   The child is not dead   for she is not dead
  but sleeping."   but sleeping."   but sleeping."
  And they laughed at him. 40 And they laughed at him. 53 And they laughed at him,
          knowing
          that she was dead.

But when the crowd        
  had been put outside,   But he put them all outside,    
      and took the child's father*

      and those    
      who were with him,    
  he went in   and went in    
      where the child was.    
  and took her by the hand, 41 Taking her by the hand 54 But taking her by the hand
      he <says> to her,   he called, saying,
      "Talitha cumi";    
      which means,    
      "Little girl,    "Child, 
      I say to you, arise."   arise."
    42 And immediately 55 And her spirit returned,
  and the girl arose.   the girl got up and walked   and she got up at once;

      immediately overcome    
      with amazement.    
    43 And    
      he strictly charged them*   [see Luke 8:56 below]
      that no one*    
      should know this,    
      and told them   and he directed that
      to give her   something

          her parents were amazed;
