Volusius  Saturninus  [37 BCE - 56 CE]

Long-lived Roman senator who served every emperor from Augustus to Nero. Under Augustus, Lucius Volusius Saturninus was consul of Rome, proconsul of Asia (Minor), & legate to Syria. He was imperial legate also under Tiberius. He died at the age of 93 while serving as prefect of Rome under Nero.  To honor him Nero ordered a state funeral & the erection of seven statues of him in major temples, theaters & civic buildings throughout Rome.
